What is Bet Alef?

"An inclusive and welcoming Jewish community embracing a Universal Spirit"

The essence of Bet Alef is its meditative approach to Jewish identity, the traditional liturgy, rituals, and text. The liturgy is abbreviated, so greater attention is devoted to contemplation. Guided meditations, as well as chanting, music, song and silence are all part of our worship experience. These elements help us explore the "inner spaces" of Jewish identity and experience, and support our wholeness and our appreciation of the Oneness of Being.

Our community is open and accepting of all. Even those for whom the Jewish rituals are unfamiliar can feel comfortable at Bet Alef.

Our Spiritual Leaders:

Rabbi Ted Falcon leads our Shabbat services, High Holiday observances, and Community Passover Seder. He also teaches adult Torah Study twice a month. Deepening Jewish spiritual exploration also takes place throughout the year through a variety of adult classes, workshops, and retreats.

Rabbinic Intern Olivier BenHaim leads services and Torah classes in Rabbi Ted's absence, facilitates workshops around Holidays, and acts as a Hebrew teacher for the community. He actively supports the L'Dor Va-Dor family program by leading childrens services, and has created and leads the B'nai Mitzvah Youth program. He is particularly interested in facilitating Bar/Bat Mitzvah ceremonies, meditation workshops, and in exploring different ways to celebrate Shabbat and exploring deeper approaches to prayers.

Both Rabbi Ted and Olivier are available for weddings and memorial services for members and non-members. To make an appointment, please contact the office at 206.527.9399 or info@betalef.org.
