We are doing our best to make it easy for all of us to support the work
of our community. Together, we are
learning to take greater responsibility for our shared spiritual
journey. We are deeply grateful for your support in all areas of our
community life.
How else can I support Bet Alef?
We
ask members and non-members to support our community in other special
ways because Membership Dues alone are not sufficient for any
synagogue to cover the entire budget. Bet Alef is very careful in our
spending, but there are considerable expenses involved in maintaining
and growing our Jewish spiritual community. We are able to operate
without a building fund by renting our facilities, so rental costs are
a substantial part of our budget. We seek to acknowledge the special
qualities of our rabbi, musicians and office staff
with appropriate compensation.
Every donation is a
greatly appreciated gift and blessing. Please remember that your
support and presence are valued regardless of your ability to make a
financial contribution.
Here are some ways
that you can contribute:
Direct
Donations
There are many opportunities to donate directly to Bet Alef.
Donations can be
made to a General Fund at any time to support the ongoing operations of
the synagogue. Donations may also be made to support a particular
program which has a special interest or significance to you. Donations
to the Music Program are always appreciated. On Friday nights at
Shabbat Services, members have the opportunity to sponsor an Oneg and
light candles to celebrate a special event with the community. You can
find more information about sponsoring an Oneg here.
It is traditional to make
donations at times of remembrance, particularly at the yarzheit
(anniversary) of the death of a loved one; and for celebrations of
birthdays and anniversaries.
Donations
can be made by contacting the Bet Alef Office.
Donation
boxes are also available at Shabbat Services.
Candle Lighting
We invite members of Bet Alef to light a candle at Shabbat Services in
honor of a special blessing or celebration. This can be a celebration
of a recent accomplishment, a memorial to a loved one, or anything else
you would like to share. There is a suggested donation of $18 (chai)
for lighting a candle.
Matching Funds
Many large companies provide matching funds for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt
nonprofit agencies such as Bet Alef. They encourage employees to spend
more time and resources helping the agencies that they care about the
most. We ask that you please check to see if your company has a
matching funds program.
PCC Scrip - Revisited!
The new program works like
this: you purchase a $25 or $50 card or key-tag one time. You use this
card or tag just like a gift card. Cards or tags can be recharged at
any PCC Natural Market with a credit card, debit card or cash.
5% of all funds put on your card go to Bet Alef when you buy a card or
key tag from us. It’s that simple! If you'd like a Scrip card, please contact us.
Amazon.com
By clicking from Bet Alef's website link to
Amazon.com, Bet Alef currently receives 5.25% of
anything that you purchase. The percentage increases with the number of
orders per quarter. When you are shopping, please remember the Amazon
link at Bet Alef!
