A Shabbat of Mindfulness with Rabbi Jeff Roth: Dec. 2-3

Join us for this special Shabbat!


This December 2nd and 3rd, Bet Alef welcomes Rabbi Jeff Roth, founder and director of The Awakened Heart Project for Contemporary Judaism. Rabbi Roth will join Bet Alef’s Rabbi BenHaim in leading Kabbalat Shabbat service Friday Dec. 2nd and Shabbat morning services Saturday Dec.3rd. Additionally Rabbi Roth will offer a series of teachings and times for Jewish meditation practice throughout the day. (See Schedule below)

Friday, December 2

7:30 PM: Bet Alef Shabbat service: Rabbi Jeff Roth will co-lead our Kabbalat Shabbat service

with Rabbi Olivier.

Saturday, December 3

9:00 – 9:50 AM: Two 20 minute group-meditations, “Breathing the Divine Name YHVH.”
10:00 – 12:00 PM: Co-led Shabbat morning service including chanting, Torah reading, singing, dancing, and meditation. Theme: “Experiencing the World Through God’s eyes.”
12:00 – 1:30 PM: Lunch Break
1:30 – 4:30 PM: Main workshop/Lecture & meditation practice plus Q&A
7:00 – 9:00 PM: Book presentation/discussion/book signing plus concluding Havdalah ceremony.



Rabbi Jeff Roth is the founder and Director of The Awakened Heart Project for Contemplative Judaism. He was the co-founder of Elat Chayyim where he served as Executive Director and Spiritual Director for 13 years.  He is the co-leader of the Jewish Mindfulness Teacher Training program.  He has also facilitated over 90 Jewish meditation retreats. He is the author of Jewish Meditation Practices for Everyday Life, published by Jewish Lights.



Shabbat worship provides the foundation for our Bet Alef experience and is a wonderful way to be introduced to our community. 

Services are held at 7:30 PM on the first and third Fridays of each month.

Childcare provided (Friday night only).  $10 minimum donation requested per family.  Please email the office if you will be needing childcare.
